Thread: Paulo Filho borta från WEC

World Extreme Cagefighting, ahead of its December middleweight and light heavyweight merger with the UFC, has released former 185-pound champion Paulo Filho (16-1).

Filho’s manager, Ed Soares, confirmed the release today with CagePotato.com.

“It’s true. We’ve recevied paperwork that they’re releasing him from his contract,” said Sores. “The WEC’s been great throughout everything, but it’s understandable. He’s had a rough year. We have faith that he’ll be back. I still believe he’s one of the best middleweights in the world.”

Filho’s release comes less than two weeks after his first career loss to Chael Sonnen at WEC 36. Filho missed the 185-pound middleweight limit by seven-pounds for the matchup then put on a disappointing performance in the bout, losing to Sonnen via unanimous decision.

Haha, sant att det inte är så konstigt att dom inte vill ha honom i WEC längre. Men jag läste att inte heller UFC vill ha honom p.g.a. matchen mot Sonnen.
