Lightweight winner of “The Ultimate Fighter 8? Efrain Escudero recently announced via Myspace Bulletin that he has been forced out of his scheduled bout on April 1. He was scheduled to take part in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 18 on the evening, against fellow rising star Jeremy Stephens.

According to MMAJunkie a rib injury suffered during a recent training session may be the culprit. They also indicated that Gleison Tibau, who defeated Rich Climenti in his last outing, has been offered the opportunity to step in.

Stephens last fought at UFC Fight Night 17, losing by submission to Joe Lauzon, after stepping in on short notice for his training partner Hermes Franca. Before that Stephens had scored a knock out victory over Raphael dos Anjos with an uppercut from the hip, which has gained recognition as one of the top knock outs of 2008.
