Wanderlei Silva has spoken about his excitement after hearing who he would be squaring off with next inside the octagon, promising a big surprise to his fans, although MMABay may just have the inside track on this one.
Speaking to Planet Tatami this week, Wanderlei said:
“It's going to be a big surprise to everybody. When I say against who and for what weight class people will get thrilled - the hairs on the back of their neck will stand up!”
MMABay broke the story last week that the Brazilian was set to ink a contract that would see him headline UFC 105 opposite Michael Bisping once he returned from Pensacola, Florida, a story this website stands by at the time of print.
Since then, things have moved quickly in the world of MMA and the UFC are set to announce the return of “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz later today. Sources close to the situation have informed MMABay that the promotion are now considering making the rematch between the two legends of the octagon, which could explain the excitement shown by Wanderlei.
The pair first squared off at UFC 25 back in April 2000, with Ortiz winning the fight and the 205 pound title by unanimous decision after five hard rounds.
MMABay are in no way confirming that this fight will happen and are only passing along information from a Stateside based source.
